Dr. Keith Hansen is a UCSF trained surgeon as well as the Founder and CEO of Diatiro.
Grounded in the belief that innovation thrives at the intersection of art and science, he has blended his engineering and medical pursuits with a focus on design. A Biomedical Engineering graduate from Purdue University, Dr. Hansen was recognized with a gubernatorial appointment to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and was instrumental in establishing an innovation design building at Purdue. His engineering endeavors extended to roles at Abbott and Akina.
Transitioning to medicine, he earned his MD from Indiana University, where he championed patient-centered care as the president of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. His passion for medical innovation was further honed at the year-long Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship, leading him to found Diatiro and develop the FDA Breakthrough-Designated Kidney Pod with his team. He served as an Assistant Editor at the World Journal of Surgery and has refined his skills in design thinking and innovation management as a Physician-in-Residence at IDEO. His contributions have been acknowledged by the American Journal of Transplantation in 'The AJT Report: Fostering and Profiting from the Physician Innovator.”
